The sensors were set off by Mexicans who jumped hard in jubilation as their team secured a surprising victory over World Cup defending champions Germany.

Tens of thousands of fans waving flags and wearing sombrero hats had gathered at the iconic Angel of Independence monument in downtown Mexico City to cheer on their national team on a giant screen.

Things were looking hopeful for the five-times champions in the first half, leading the game with a goal from Philippe Coutinho in the 20th minute.
