When Instagram launch their ‘mute’ feature, you can stop seeing posts from annoying friends without having to unfollow them.
This might be the best thing Instagram has done since, well, becoming Instagram. Their newest feature allow you to stop seeing posts from certain friends without having to stop following them.
Once you mute someone, their content will stop showing up on your newsfeed, without that person even knowing.

The feature is very practical, since unfollowing someone can be seen as offensive and could lead to larger problem between two friends.
Twitter has had a similar feature for long, but on Instagram you would have to manually unfollow someone and stop seeing their content for good – especially if they have a private account.

“The accounts you mute will not be aware that you’ve muted them. You can always unmute an account to get their posts back in your feed,” it continued.
You can easily mute a profile by tapping the menu button in the corner of the post. There, you’ll get to chose to either mute posts alone, or both posts and stories from the selected account.
The feature is starting out with a few iOS users, but will later on be rolled out to everyone with an account, regardless of operating system or device.
