Over the recent years the term “paraben free” has become associated with healthier and better, but why?
Parabens are a class of preservatives that are widely used in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. Their bactericidal and fungicidal properties, along with their low cost, makes them effective and efficient preservers of products like shampoos, moisturizers, shaving gels, lubricants, ointments and creams. But why is paraben free products a better choice?

Even though it has never been proved, some specialists believe that parabens can be extremely harmful to your health. These claims are based on studies which have shown parabens mimicking the activity of the hormone estrogen in the human body.
while estrogen has been directly linked to breast cancer, similar studies have reported finding parabens in breast tumors. These findings, if true, give reason to the doubt people who don’t trust parabens have.
Other studies have indicated that methylparaben, which is used in cosmetics and personal-care products, can react with UVB rays and damage the DNA in your skin cells.
But as we said, none of these claims have ever been proven to be completely true. However, if you’re someone who mistrusts chemicals, then why risk it? As the saying goes, “better safe than sorry”.
