Qatar Quality company announced of plans to start manufacturing electric cars in Qatar

We might be manufacturing electric cars, right here in Qatar, by as soon as 2023.

Ali bin Nasser al Misnad, Chairman of the Qatar Quality company, have announced that Qatar might soon start manufacturing electric cars locally.

His company will facilitate the construction of a $9 billion mega factory, which will be able to produce more than 500,000 cars by 2024, which will be shipped out to all over the globe.

“The project is to have fully made-in-Qatar cars. The cars will be manufactured in factories with a Qatari brand name,” he told Qatar Tribune.

He also said that the Japanese tech giant “ARM”, which specializes in hybrid and electric engine technology, is ready to invest in Qatar.

“The project will be the first-of-its-kind in the Middle East as it is a whole new brand and not an assembling on for another car brand,” he said.

Giving insight on the new mega factory, Managing Director at Qatar Quality, Dr Musa Ramadan, said that the plan involves putting together six factories, which together can produce one new car every 10 minutes, and half a million cars per year.

“A team from the Japanese manufacturing company have arrived in attend a seminar where they will explain all about the new mega project,” Musa said, adding that they have already prepared the designs for the cars that will manufactured in Qatar.

The cars will be produced in two different categories: sedans and sport utility vehicle (SUVs).

The will belong to a new generation of electric vehicles and have a top speed of 210 km/h, and will be able to travel as far as 1000 km on a full charge.

Their high-tech charging port will be able to replenish a dried out battery in just 10 minutes.

However, regarding the charging hubs, Musa explained that they will be set up at gas stations all over the country, making it easy to find and convenient.
