WhatsApp Will Soon Delete Your Old Messages

WhatsApp has teamed up with Google and will delepte your messages, photos and videos if you don't backup

Your old WhatsApp messages, photos and videos will be deleted, even if they are backed up, unless.

A major deal went down between WhatsApp and Google, and it will cost you all your messages, photos and videos, unless you protect them properly.

As part of the deal, Google will allow users to back up their chats onto their server for free, where they will be stored and protected forever.

However, chats that are already backed up will also have to be protected, or they will be deleted as well. This means that if you haven’t backed up WhatsApp in the past year, your messages, videos and picture, whether backed up or not, will soon be removed.

“Due to a new agreement between WhatsApp and Google, WhatsApp backups will no longer count against Google Drive storage quota,” Google explained in an email to users according to the Independent.

“However, any WhatsApp backups that have not been updated in more than a year will automatically be removed from storage,” it said.

If you don’t want any messages to be deleted, you will have to do a manual backup before November 12, when the deal goes into effect.

You can backup your chats by accessing the Menu section of WhatsApp, click Settings, Chats, and the backup screen will be there.

You can also chose the automatic backup feature from that same screen, which will allow your phone to automatically update backups every while.
