Surprise surprise, you have been around poisonous foods your whole life without even dying once. Weird, huh? These poisonous foods are usually just lying around the house looking all innocent and yummy.

Tomatoes

Tomato stems and leaves contain alkali poisons that can cause an upset stomach. The same thing goes for unripe green tomatoes, which in quantities can lead to death. But only in really vast quantities.

Almonds

You might not have known that there are two types of almonds: sweet and bitter ones. While the sweet almonds are a treat, bitter almonds contain hydrogen cyanide. It only takes about 8 ones to cause serious illness, and could be fatal to children.

Honey

Unpasteurized honey contains grayanotoxin, a harmful toxin. If eaten raw, the honey can cause dizziness, weakness, sweating, nausea, and vomiting for as long as 24 hours.

Potatoes

Potato leaves, stems and sprouts contain glycoalkaloids, which can also build up inside the root itself if left too long. This is why you should always avoid eating greenish potatoes as they can be fatal.

Fruit Seeds

Seeds and its in fruits like apples, cherries, peaches and apricots contain a type of hydrogen cyanide called prussic acid. Eating a handful of them could cause some serious damage.
