A bank robbery gone wrong forces a small-town honest cop to hunt down his very own brother in Shimmer Lake.
Shimmer Lake follows a crime story told backwards. When small town criminals make an attempt at their local bank, the robbery goes terribly wrong and leaves behind a trail of dead people. The lead investigator is one of the thieves brother, who comes across secrets that have been hiding right under his nose for a long time.
Written and directed by Oren Uziel, the movie starts seven days after the robbery and moves back until the day it happened. The complexity of the story captures your curiosity, making you speculate, until you reach the say of the robbery and the story unfolds in a shocking twist.
The film stars Benjamin Walker, Wyatt Russell, Rainn Wilson, Adam Pally, John Michael Higgins, Ron Livingston, Stephanie Sigman and Rob Corddry, and was released on Netflix on June 9.
Despite being quiet and mysterious, it is thrilling and intriguing. A good watch for anytime and could be enjoyed by anyone.
