Qatar Masters Turns 20 This Weekend

Commercial Bank Qatar Masters golf tournament 20 year anniversary

Some of the world’s top golfers will battle for the $2.5 million prize pot at the Qatar Masters over the weekend.

Some of the world’s best popular golfers have gathered in Doha to play the 20th annual Qatar Masters tournament at the Doha Golf Club over the weekend. The Commercial Bank Qatar Masters as it is known kicked-off on Thursday, January 26, and will conclude on Sunday, January 29.

First held in 1998, this will be the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters 20th edition. It is one of three European Tour golf tournaments held in the Arabian Gulf, along with the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and the Omega Dubai Desert Classic. Starting off with one of the more modest fields in the European Tour, it has grown into one of the strongest fields in the tour.

The event helped put Qatar on the map in the world golfing scene, while once including one top 50 player per tournament, but now includes several of the world’s tops and champions.

In 2016 the tournament attracted over 25,000 spectators to the field, and enjoyed a global audience of over 400 million viewers.

Tickets for the 20th Commercial Bank Qatar Masters are priced QAR 150 for a day pass, or QAT 450 for all four days. They can be bought Virgin Megastores, both online and in-store, also at the Doha Golf Club, St Regis Hotel Doha, Intercontinental Hotel Doha, Radisson Blu Hotel Doha, Fnac Lagoona Mall, aswell as online through q-tickets.com, 800tickets.com and iloveqatar.net.
