Gold is still in sight for Team Qatar at Rio 2016 Summer Olympics.
The hopes for Qatar to secure a medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic games are not over yet. Team Qatar has done well so far, but have not been able to secure a win enough for a medal, but things are turning to Team Qatar’s favor.
All fingers are crossed for Qatari favorite Mutaz Barshim, after the champion high jumper finished top of his class at the qualifying for the high jump event final. He secured his finalist spot after finishing in top-spot with 2.29 meters.
The finals men’s high jump event will take place on Wednesday, August 17, with Barshim ranking highest among his fellow contenders.
The Qatar born has achieved several gold medals at prior local, regional and international events. He won gold at the Asian Indoor Championships and fourth at World Indoor Championships this year, as well as gold at the Asian Games, World Indoor Championships and Asian Indoor Championships last year.
Odds are looking good for the Qatari national equestrian team as well. The team qualified to the next round of individual and team show jumping at the Rio 2016 games, after a successful first round on Tuesday’s qualifier event.
