5 of The Hottest Lebanese Designers

The Oscars, VMA’s, Cannes Film Festival, and every other high-end gala, dinner, festival or award show have one thing in common, celebrities showing off their designer dresses.

We are used to the big names in fashion, names and brands that have been around since our parents were kids. But they are all up against competition, and you guessed it, the Arab designers are coming.

Through the last decade or so, Lebanese fashion designers have made headlines around the world and dressed some of the most beautiful and exclusive celebrities and public figures. For you to know who you should know and/or keep track of, we have made a list of 5 hot Lebanese fashion designers.

Elie Saab: Probably one of the most known Lebanese designers, Saab was born in Beirut in 1964, and is actually a self-taught designer. Starting at the age of 9, Saab found interest in dresses and started making them for his sisters. The phenom has found popularity among several Hollywood A-list celebrities and his work can be found on any red carpet.

Zuhair Murad: Was raised in the Baalbek, in the Lebanese Bekaa Valley, and found his love for design at the age of 10. He gained momentum at the Haute Couture Week in Paris the year 2001, and says he can not remember a day he didn’t have a pen in his hand.

Georges Hobeika: Was actually a civil engineering student who found love for fashion in the midst of his studies, and started sketching dresses for his mother’s studio. Leaving in height of the Lebanese war, he relocated to Paris and was immersed in the world of fashion through an internship with Chanel.

Rabih Kayrouz: Being borne in Beirut in 1973, Kayrouz studied at the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, and established Maison Rabih Kayrouz in 1998. Kayrouz’s has dressed some of the fashion world’s top fashionistas and public figures as he has found himself in luxury wears.

Hussein Bazaza: Also born in Beirut, in 1990, Bazaza kick-started his design career interning for another Lebanese designer, Rabih Kayrouz. He studied for a bachelors in fashion design and pattern making at ESMOD in Beirut, graduating in 2011. Within few years Bazaza was awarded Best Upcoming Designer in 2015.
