A Solo Adventure – 5 places to travel alone this summer

Traveling is always fun. Even if you do not enjoy your trip, you always end up with a story to tell. The feeling of experiencing new cultures and meeting new people is incomparable. Wandering the streets of a foreign city, relaxing on a tropical beach, or exploring ruins of ancient civilizations, we all get struck by wanderlust at least twice a year.

When it comes to planning the perfect vacation, you might find a few obstacles — and most of them are travel-partner induced. It could be bad timing, conflicting with your friend’s work vacation. You might have different agendas; you want to explore architecture and museums while your friend wants to party. You might even not agree on the same destination. We have put together for you a list of top 5 suggested places you can travel alone and feed your lust for adventure.

5. San Francisco, USA

San Francisco was ranked one of the world’s happiest and friendliest cities. The city is famous for its vibrant dynamics as it is a cultural melting pot, buzzing with things to do.

The sunny Californian weather makes San Francisco an outdoor city. It is fun to stroll around the beautiful scenery and public transportation is easily accessible in many forms.

Named the young city, San Francisco is always on top of trends and is welcoming to new ideas. Are you a self-proclaimed foodie? The city’s culinary scene offers your taste buds a wide spectrum of choices. After grabbing a bite, you can enjoy avant-garde art, or simply relax in the peaceful surroundings of Golden Gate Park. Either way, you’re in for a treat!

4. Auckland, New Zealand

Known as the city of sails for the high white sails from the numerous yachts and sailboats docked at its harbour, Auckland is a city with magic all over.

Auckland is the largest and most populous urban city in New Zealand and was ranked 3rd on the 2014 Mercer Quality of Living Survey, making it one of the happiest places on earth.

The city enjoys a beautiful climate, two harbours, and is a unique ecosystem as a whole. There are around 50 volcanoes around Auckland, and it is also home to around 30 percent of the world’s total population of yellow-eyed penguins, and serves as mating grounds to the New Zealand sea lion.

You can enjoy the view from the 382-meter-high Aucklands Sky Tower, the tallest structure in the southern hemisphere, or explore one of the few rainforests outside of the tropics.

3. Seoul, South Korea

Seoul, the capital of South Korea is Asia on steroids. The area has been continuously inhabited for over 2,000 years, but had to be rebuilt after the Korean War, and they did a great job rebuilding it.

When it comes to originality, Seoul definitely stands out. The city has a flavor of its own. Unlike anything in the world. As you step out on the streets of the city, you will feel like you stepped into the future, or an alternate universe. This new city is a colorful mix of professionalism, heritage and the young K-pop culture.

Relax during the day while experiencing Seoul’s serene heritage which is, to this day, rooted deeply in their culture — or, let the night take you for a spin out on the town. The parties in Seoul take you beyond imagination.
