Netflix Set to Make Roald Dahl Movies

Netflix will make Roald Dahl stories like Willy Wonka and Matilda into movies

Some of Roald Dahl’s best known works will soon be available as movies on Netflix.

We love news from Netflix, because they are always amazing (unless they’re cancelling your favorite show). The latest out of the streaming service is huge; they will start production on movies based on popular Roald Dahl books, like Willy Wonka, Matilda, and The BFG.

Roald Dahl has entertained and inspired, children and adults alike, for generations. It is hard to find someone who hasn’t heard/read one of his stories, and even hard to find someone who doesn’t like them.

As smart as the people at Netflix are, they saw an opportunity in this and decided to go ahead and acquire the rights to produce several movies based on Dahl’s work.

While many of his books have already been adapted for the big screen, Netflix sure has something else in mind. And unlike the previous Willy Wonka movies, their version will be animated, all of them will be.

It would be the first time these stories are presented in feature-length animation.

The complete list of Roald Dahl books they are planning to do is: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG, The Twits, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, George’s Marvellous Medicine, Boy: Tales of Childhood, Going Solo, The Enormous Crocodile, The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More, Billy and the Minpins, The Magic Finger, Esio Trot, Dirty Beasts, and Rhyme Stew.

However, not all of the stories will be shot in feature length. Given that many of Dahl’s stories are short, Netflix announced that some them will be limited series and specials.

Yes, it is time to get excited. Let’s hope they give us the soonest one of them really soon.
