Disney just gave us a glimpse of the remake of 1994’s The Lion King, starring Donald Glover and Beyonce.
What’s more exciting than hearing that Disney will be remaking the 1994 classic The Lion King? To know that it’s starring Donald Glover and Beyonce, as Simba and Nala.
The original The Lion King must be everyone’s favorite childhood movie. I’ve never met one person that didn’t like it.
Here’s the tricky part of this movie. It is not a live-action adaptation; there are no humans in the movie, so it can’t be. However, it is photorealistic computer-animated, meaning that it looks awfully real. So real you could easily mistake it for an episode of Planet Earth… until the animals start to speak.

It is slightly uncanny to watch realistic animals speak and show emotions in the same way we humans do. However, it worked well in Narnia, but the key element, humans, are missing from this movie.
Hopefully, the cringe will fade a few minutes into the movie and we become more comfortable with the characters.
Other than that, from what we’ve seen, it looks like a scene for scene remake of the original movie. We saw a similar project from Jon Favreau in 2016, with his version of The Jungle Book.
