Library Dedicated to Arab Fiction is Opening in Katara

Katara Cultural Village will open the Katara Library of Arabic Novels during the Katara Festival of Arabic Novels

In just a few days, you will be able to visit the brand new Katara Library of Arabic Novels at Katara Cultural Village.

Following the opening of the Qatar National Library, the Katara Cultural Village is following on the path of promoting reading culture and will soon be home to a library dedicated to Arabic novels and fiction – The Katara Library of Arabic Novels.

Katara hopes that the initiative will attract fans of Arabic literature, and at the same time attract people to Arabic literature.

The Katara Library of Arabic Novels is scheduled to formally open during the 4th annual Katara Festival of Arabic Novels, which will take place between October 15 and October 17.

The festival will of host the Katara Prize for Arabic Novels 2018 awards, as well as book signing session with last year’s winners.

“The Katara Library for Arabic Novels will showcase more than 10,000 titles in fiction, in addition to studies and critical works on Arabic novels. The opening ceremony will take place on the first day of the Festival,” Katara Cultural Village General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti told The Peninsula.

He added that the library will serve as a hub for local and regional writers and researchers.

The library will not only be a place where you can go to borrows books, but also a place to read, discover and conduct studies. It will also have a sections dedicated to film screenings, workshops and a studio set ready for filming and recording.

But you should really visit the opening, because the Katara Festival of Arabic Novels is planning to release a total of 27 new titles on the day.
