Are You Ready To Go Back To Narnia?

Netflix has announced new movies and series from The Chronicles of Narnia

Netflix has obtained the legal rights to the entire franchise and will be giving us a tour of Narnia like never before.

Although you might know Narnia from the movies that came out between 2005 and 2010, The Chronicles of Narnia is actually a series of books that were written by C. S. Lewis in between 1950 and 1956.

The series is regarded to as the author’s best work, and have sold more than 100 million copies and been translated to more than 47 languages.

The most recent movies – The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), Prince Caspian (2008) and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010) – were great, but the studio failed to continue the franchise even though they promised they would.

But don’t worry, because wherever there’s a story waiting to become a movie Netflix comes to the rescue.

The streaming service recently acquired the rights for all seven books, which is very rare for a book series. Which has never been done by any studio before.

Yesterday, Netflix announced a “multi-year deal between Netflix and The C.S. Lewis Company”, through which they will “develop new series and film projects based on C.S. Lewis’ beloved The Chronicles of Narnia series.”

“The deal marks the first time that rights to the entire seven books of the Narnia universe have been held by the same company,” a press release said.

Remaking blockbuster movies has become growing trend for streaming services. Amazon are currently producing their own Lord of the Rings series, and Netflix itself has released two season of A Series of Unfortunate Events, with the third on the way. Both stories have recently been made into big Hollywood movies.

The service did not disclose information about possible titles or release dates.
