A new Minecraft game is in the works, and it is not a sequel. Here’s what we know about Minecraft: Dungeons.
Minecraft has been one of the world’s most played games since it came out in 2011. Although the concept behind it was simple, it was pure genius. You pick up whatever you can find and use them to build whatever you want. Yes, pretty much whatever you want, as long as you’re creative, it is possible.
Eight years later, Mojang, the Swedish company that created the original game, announced that it will be making a new Minecraft game, which is only the first of several expansions to the Minecraft universe.

While the original game was pretty chill (unless you were being chased by Creepers, Skeletons, Endermen and giant spiders), Minecraft: Dungeons is all about action.
The announcement was made on Saturday, during the annual Minecraft live broadcast Minecon Earth 2018.
They described Dungeons as “an all-new action-adventure game inspired by classic dungeon crawlers.” And those of who’ve crawled the dungeons, caves and tunnels of the game, know that it means serious business.
But if you think that there will be a fair share of digging, crafting and building, you’re dead wrong.

“I would say that it’s a distilled version of Minecraft,” said Mojang creative lead Jens Bergentsen. “Building in the game is something that we’ve talked about a lot, but we were concerned that it would distract from what the game was about. So in Minecraft Dungeons, it’s strictly an adventure game with a story attached to it.”
The game is scheduled to be released on PC first, in 2019, with a preceding beta version. Take a look at the announcement trailer below while you wait:
