In the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, the Emir of Qatar announced educational aid to 1 million school girls.

Under the direction of the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the country has been keen on delivering aid and assistance to people in need all over the world.

Among the main focuses of the country’s foreign aid program, are developing countries and area affected by war and crises.

Last year alone, Qatar became the biggest contributor to the UN’s refugee agency in the region when they donated more than $26 million to the relief organization.

And as always, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani did not hesitate to take initiative when the circumstances call for it.

“Qatar has always given priority to education at both local and external levels, as reflected in its international development assistance programmes,” Sheikh Tamim said, as he pledged to fund education for one million school girls in developing countries over the next three years.

The Emir also expressed his pride in Doha’s role in recently helping 10 million out-of-school children receive quality primary education.

Qatar has a long history of funding humanitarian initiatives around the world, whether through its own state-run organizations, the UN, or in support of NGOs and international bodies.
