The new series, based on the GoT book series written by George R. R. Martin and series created by Jane Goldman, will start filming as soon as October, the company has said.
The Long Night will show us a time known as the Age of Heroes in Westeros, and will include the Long Night and origin story of the White Walkers.
HBO’s very own description of the series is:
Set thousands of years before the events of Thrones, the project chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour…Only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.

Shooting begin filming in Belfast, where a significant part of Game of Thrones was shot, but might include several other locations, as the studio is known to do.
The Long Night is expected to premiere in 2020.
