USA, Canada & Mexico will host the FIFA World Cup 2026

It is has been decided, North America will host the FIFA World Cup in 2026 after united bit beats Morocco.

USA, Canada and Mexico have won their united bid to host the quadrennial international men’s football championship commonly known as the World Cup in 2026.

The three north American nations beat Morocco to the bid at the 68th annual FIFA congress, a day ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

This will be the first time the tournament is held in North America since it was hosted by USA in 1994. It will also be the third time the cup is hosted in Mexico, and its first time ever in Canada.

The united bid received 134 votes, beating Morocco by 69 votes, while one vote went to none of the bids. This is the second time in history that a joint bid wins, the first being Japan and South Korea in 2002.

The results were a big disappointment to Morocco which had hoped to become the second African nation to host the World Cup, after South Africa in 2010. This marks the fifth World Cup bid they lose.

The 2018 tournament is just about to kick off in Russia, while the 2022 tournament will be held in Qatar.
