After his shock resignation from Real Madrid, there are talks of Zinedine Zidane coaching the Qatar national team.

On 31 May, five days after leading Real Madrid to their 3rd Champions League title, Zidane announced his resignation. Now there are talks of him coaching the Qatar national team until 2022.

Online rumors are claiming that Zidane has been approached with a four year contract worth $234 million, or $58 million per year.

The figure was reported by Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris, who blew up Twitter after his suggestion.

It was believed that the Frenchman would retire, or least partially, from football following his resignation. However, if the deal is real, he could be $234 million richer by 2022.

Qatar is the host nation of the 2022 World Cup and will therefore received an automatic qualification.

Currently ranked as 101st in football across the globe, the country could need a coach with Zidane’s track record to lead their debut into the international stage.

According to other reports, Zidane has already been tapped by Chelsea to take over, since they are not happy with their current coach, Antonio Conte.
