The Simpsons Creator Makes New Series For Netflix

The Simpsons and Futurama creator Matt Groening has teamed up with Netflix to make Disenchantment

While we were hoping that Netflix will bring The Simpsons to the streaming service, instead will be getting Matt Groening’s Disenchantment.

Matt Groening, creator of the two popular animated series The Simpsons and Futurama, is back with his first new series in more than 20 years. This time, he will be partnering up with Netflix to bring you Disenchantment.

Disenchantment follows the story of an alcoholic princess named Bean, who lives with her elf Elfo and personal demon Luci in the medieval kingdom of Beanlandia.

Twenty episodes of the show have been ordered by Netflix, ten of which will premiere on August 17, 2018, as part of season one. This will be Groening’s first production for Netflix, having previously and most notably worked with 20th Century Fox Television.

Among the writers of Disenchantment is Australian rapper Adam Briggs, who is part of the award-winning duo A.B. Original, as well as a writer for ABC shows The Weekly and Black Comedy.

The show stars Abbi Jacobson as Princess Bean, alongside Nat Faxon as Elfo and Eric Andre as Luci. Some of the other voice actors joining the cast include John DiMaggio, who voices Bender (Futurama), Billy West, who voices both Fry and Professor Farnsworth (Futurama), and Tress MacNeille, who voices several characters on both of Matt Groening’s popular shows.
