Ooredoo launches 5G network in Qatar

Qatar has become the world’s first country to offer commercial 5G network services thanks to Ooredoo.

The Qatar-based telecom giant Ooredoo announced that have become the first telecom operator in the world to launch a live 5G network over a 3.5GHz spectrum band.

In its first staged, the 5G Supernet offered by Ooredoo will be available from The Pearl Qatar to the Hamad International Airport, including Lagoona, Katara Cultural Village, West Bay, Souq Waqif and the Corniche.

Users of the 5G network will have the benefit from one of the world’s fastest internet connections, that come with higher capacity and better latency than existing networks.

This will give Doha-based enterprises and businesses the opportunity to work faster and explore new potential.

To be able to access the Ooredoo 5G Supernet, you will need to head down to a company outlet or certified reseller and purchase a 5G compatible device.

The company has stated that this is just the start of many technological advancements to come, promising to have the new network available across the country very soon.
