There are many reasons behind dark skin on knees and elbows, mainly sun exposure, friction, hormonal imbalance and accumulation of dead skin cells. Such patches of rigdged dark skin can be the cause of insecurities, but you can easily remove them with some simple home remedies.
Turmeric
Turmeric contains curcumin, a compound that can reduce and regulate the production of melanin, pigments responsible for darker skin, in your body.
Mix a tablespoon of turmeric with a tablespoon of milk and make a paste. Massage the mix onto your elbows and knees. and let it dry naturally before you rinse it off with lukewarm water.
Lemon
Rich in antioxidants and vitamin C, lemons seem to be the secret behind everything good for your body.
Cut a lemon in two halves and cover the flesh side with baking soda. Use the lemon to scrub the darkened area for about a minute and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water and repeat every two days.
Potato
Potatoes might not seem like the perfect skincare product, but they are rich in catecholase enzymes which can easily lighten skin tones.
Shred a potato and squeeze the outcome to produce potato juice. Apply the juice onto your skin and leave it on for about 15 minutes, then rinse it off with water.
