Not much is known about the plot of the sequel, but former writers, Parks and Recreation actor Rashida Jones and Sopranos actor Will McCormack, have said that it would focus on a love story between Woody and Bo Peep.

However, Jones and McCormack withdrew from the project in November 2017 and were replaced by Stephany Folsom.

It has also been confirmed that the original cast will return to voice the movie’s main characters, as Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), Bo Peep (Annie Potts) and Jessie (Joan Cusack), as well as Dolly (Bonnie Hunt), Barbie (Jodi Benson) as Barbie, and Mrs. Potato Head (Estelle Harris).

Randy Newman, who wrote the original soundtrack will return to write the soundtrack for Toy Story 4. His 1995 soundtrack ‘You’ve Got A Friend in Me’ was nominated for both the Academy Award for Best Original Song and the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song.
