How To Stop Mosquito Bites From Itching

help mosquito bites stop itching

Mosquito bites must be one of the most annoying things about spring and early summer, but they don’t have to be.

Spring can truly be a magical season… until that morning when you wake up covered in itching mosquito bites. As it seems, mosquitoes love to live in your bedroom, and bite you only, and no one else.

However, we have great news for you – you can make mosquito bites not itch easily.

The first, and only thing you need to know really, is that you should never scratch a bite, no matter how much it itches.

Scratching would only help make the bite more inflamed, causing further itching or maybe even an infection.

Instead, use:

Alcohol

Alcohol has a cooling effect when it evaporates off your skin. Soak a cotton ball in a little alcohol and rub it on the bite.

Antihistamine

With the help of a slightly complex process that you wouldn’t want to read, antihistamines can help reduce itching and cure inflammation. You can get it over the counter at any pharmacy.

Garlic

Maybe not the best-smelling option, but definitely very effective. Raw garlic has anti-viral properties which can help sooth the bite. Rub a piece of garlic lightly and don’t over do it.

Tea

You’ve probably heard of using tea bags to reduce swelling under your eyes, well it works kind of the same on mosquito bites. Put a used tea bag in the fridge to cool it down, then rub it over the bite to ease the itch.
