Bollywood megastar Salman Khan has been sentenced to jail after being found guilty of illegal poaching scandal.
An Indian court has sentenced Bollywood superstar Salman Khan to five years in jail and a fine of 10,000 rupees ($154) for killing endangered antelopes in 1998.
Khan had killed two blackbuck, a species of antelopes protected by Indian law, in the western state of Rajasthan while shooting “Hum Saath Saath Hain”.

His co-stars, Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam, were also tried in the case, but were acquitted after being found to have been in the car that Salman was driving.
It is believed that the Salman shot the animals before fleeing the scene – leaving the animals behind – after being spotted by locals.
Although Khan, 52, can appeal against the verdict in a higher court, he is only expected to spend a few nights in jail.
This is the fourth case filed against Khan for poaching-related crimes during the filming of the 1998 movie Hum Saath Saath Hain. He was acquitted in the previous three.

However, this is not the first time the actor finds himself in front of a judge.
Back in 2002, he was involved in a hit-and-run incident which led to the death of a homeless man and left four others injured. He was cleared of all charges in December 2015.
In January last year, Khan was also acquitted in another poaching case where he had been charged of killing blackbucks using illegal firearms.
