Sheraton Grand Doha unveils unique wedding cake by Thomas Lui

The unique wedding cake is decorated with 86 Swarovski crystals, 60 l pearls, and 620 edible gold and silver feathers.

The Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel has unveiled a one-of-a-kind cake to introduce their exclusive luxury wedding cakes service. The peacock-shaped cake was made by the Hong Kong-based chocolate and pastry artisan Chef Thomas Lui.

After a full month of coming up with the concept for the cake, which resembles a peacock emerging from an egg, it took 10 days to create it.

As Chef Lui explained, the peacock represents royalty, nobility, luxury and prosperity, whereas the egg represents life.

It took 25 kilograms of premium French chocolate to complete the masterpiece, which is dressed in 86 colorful Swarovski crystals, 60 locally-sourced pearls, and 620 edible gold and silver feathers precisely cut into thin slices.

Showcased at the lobby of the Sheraton Grand Doha until next week, the cake has been put up for sale at $10,000 USD.

As one of the most celebrate pastry chefs in Hong Kong, Chef Thomas Lui has won several prestigious awards globally, including the IKA international Culinary Olympics

He has been creating pastries and cakes for more than four decades and is known to love to include chocolate in his art.
