You Shouldn’t be Taking Your Vitamins & Supplements

Vitamins and supplements might be bad for you, especially vitamin D

While you have always been told to take your vitamins, new studies show that you probably shouldn’t.

Growing up we were told to follow three simple rules and our health would be just fine: eat your veggies, sleep early and take your vitamins. The last one of the 3 golden rules might however have been not just useless, but maybe even harmful, a new study suggests.

Decades of research has failed to prove that vitamins and supplements do you any good, according to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association this month.

The paper is a collective of 33 independent studies, under which more than 50,000 adults over the age of 50 who were either on calcium, vitamin D, or both, were monitored to see whether or not they were more likely to suffer bone fractures.

Surprisingly, the scientists found these individuals to be just as much at risk as anyone else at that age.

Even more surprisingly, it was found that people who already had a minimum of vitamin D in their blood became even at greater risk of hip fractures.

This puts the old saying “if they don’t help you, they won’t harm you” to shame, as it proves matters to be otherwise with vitamins and nutritional supplements.

Be careful what you take into your body and always make sure to consult your physician in forehand.
