The world 10,000 meter champion Somali-born Sir Mo Farah has been voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2017.
The 34-year-old four-time Olympic champion who won his third successive world 10,000m gold medal at the London Summer Olympics this summer, Mo Farah, is now the Sports Personality of the Year 2017, BBC announced.

He has become the first long-distance runner to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award since Paula Radcliffe in 2002.
Not able to attend the ceremony in Liverpool, Farah joined them and accepted the award via link, alongside his son Hussein and stepdaughter Rhianna.
“I cannot believe I have won,” Farah said from St. Mary’s University in London where a track has been named after him.

Mohamed Muktar Jama Farah was born in Babiley, Somalia, in 1983, but spent much of his early years in Djibouti with his twin brother.
His athletic talents were first discovered by his physical education teacher, after he had moved to Britain at the age of eight.
He is currently the most successful British track athlete in modern Olympic Games history, and has set several records during his career.
