The Forbes world’s 100 most powerful women list for the year is out, discover which five ladies occupied the top spots.

Each year, Forbes magazine publishes their list of the world’s most powerful women, listing one hundred ladies from all over the world involved in business, politics, media or philanthropy. Each one of these women leads a very influential role in their industry; these are the top five:

Angela Merkel (Germany)

Angela Dorothea Merkel, the Chancellor of Germany since 1005, is not only the most powerful woman in the world, but she’s also regarded to as the leader of the Free World and the European Union. She also has a PhD in quantum chemistry.

Theresa May (United Kingdom)

Theresa Mary May is the incumbent Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and has been the leader of the Conservative Party since 2016. She has formerly served several positions in the British government and is currently leading the country out of the European Union.

Melinda Gates (United States)

Melinda co-founded the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation with her husband, Microsoft founder and richest person alive Bill Gates, in 2000, and has since been working on eradicating poverty, hunger and enhance healthcare all over the world.

Sheryl Sandberg (United States)
