The Emir of Qatar HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani return home to a rather spectacular homecoming celebration.
Thousands of people gathered at the Corniche last night to welcome home the Emir of Qatar. Sheikh Tamim was returning from his first trip abroad since the regional tension, and was welcomed with a festival fit for royalty.
Tonight people of Qatar celebrated the return of the Emir to home.

Qataris and expats alike waited patiently to greet the Emir, many of whom were waving the Qatari flag and tossing confetti into the sky.

His welcome was preceded by a smaller welcome at the airport, where family members and public figures received the Emir after his plane landed.
