Exploring Narcos Season 3: Escobar Was A Joke

Narcos season 3 goes beyond the death of Pablo Escobar and into the rise of the Cali Cartel - Netflix

After the death of notorious Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, eyes shifted to the mean, secretive and organized Cali Cartel – Narcos season 3 is a completely different story.

We all thought that Narcos was over once Pablo Escobar died, right? That’s how far along the story we actually know, but what Escobar started hasn’t finished yet and Narcos season 3 is here to walk us through it.

To end Pablo Escobar’s reign and take down the world’s largest drug cartel, it took the Colombian police, the rival Cali Cartel, right-wing paramilitaries, the American CIA, DEA, SEAL Team Six, Delta Force and Centra Spike coming together and mobilizing, but it will take a lot more to take down his successors.

American DEA agent Javier Peña returns to Colombia for yet another mission, this time to take down the people who helped him get Escobar, the Cali Cartel. As soon as he arrives in the country he learns that things are to be done differently, because no one is looking to start a war with the sophistication of the Cartel with deep political connections all over the world.

With business booming all over the world, Cali Cartel leader Gilberto Rodríguez Orejuela gethers the partners and associates for a shocking announcement; in 6 months, the cartel will leave the cocaine business and focus on legal businesses.

The rest of the drug lords are not happy with the announcement, and after learning that the Colombian and US governments are in on the plot, neither is Peña.

The first episode of Narcos season 3 alone reveals much about the Cali Cartel, in one sentence, they are not to be messed with.

Netflix dropped season 3 of Narcos on September 1 and it has already generated greater reviews than both previous seasons combined.
