Here are two simple methods that can help you unshrink clothes and return them to their normal size.
Have you ever lost a piece of clothing because it shrunk during a wash? Well you’re not alone, this problem actually happens quite often. Whether the cause is not following the piece of clothing’s correct washing instruction or something else, there is a way to unshrink your clothes and wear them comfortably again.
T-shirts, Tops & Sweaters
You will need four basic things to unshrink your tops, sweaters and t-shirts; a sink, hair conditioner, warm water and a towel.
Step one: Fill the sink with hot water and mix in a tablespoon of conditioner.
Step two: Soak your piece of clothing in the sink for about 15 to 20 minutes.
Step three: Gently squeeze the piece of clothing dry.
Step four: Unfold your towel on a horizontal surface, lay the top/t-shirt on top of it and gently stretch it out.
Step Five: Leave it to dry over the towel.
Once it’s dry, the piece of clothing will have gone back to its original size and can be put on comfortably.
Pants & Jeans
To unshrink pants or jeans you’ll need to put in a bit more effort, but the method is just as easy. You’ll need water and a tub.
Step one: Fill the tub with lukewarm water.
Step two: put on your pants and try to zip them up and button them. If the pants are not zipping up, it is ok, you can do it during step three.
Step three: With your pants on, sit down in the tub and let it soak for around 10 to 15 minutes. Within a few minutes you should be able to zip up your pants in case you couldn’t before.
Step five: Get out from the tub but leave the pants on for another hour or so. Try to do some physical activity during this time to stretch them out properly.
Step six: Take your pants off and hang them up to air dry.
Your pants/jeans should fit perfectly now. If you still can’t zip them up, then we’re afraid that’s the way things are now.
