3 Qataris Among Forbes Top 100 Most Powerful Arab Businesswomen

Meet the three women who made it into the Forbes Middle East’s Top 100 Most Powerful Arab Businesswomen 2017.

These influential businesswomen are Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, who was named the 11th most powerful Arab woman in business, Mira Al Attiyah at number 25, and Sheikha Hanadi bint Nasser Al Thani at number 64.

Sheikha Al Mayassa has played a key role in promoting art culture in Qatar. Upon graduating with a degree in political science and literature from Duke University, she established Reach Out To Asia, a philanthropic NGO involved with providing quality education to victims of natural disasters across the continent.

In 2010, Sheikha Al Mayassa founded the Doha Film Institute, which has worked to empower the local film community by offering funding, guidance and workshops to aspiring filmmakers in Qatar and the region.

As the Chairperson of Qatar Museums, Sheikha Al Mayassa has played a key role in transforming Qatar into a world class cultural destination for both modern and contemporary art.

Before being appointed as Chief Executive Officer at QNB Capital in July 2014, Ms. Mira Hamad Abdullah Al Attiyah served as the Assistant Undersecretary for trade at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.

She also held a number of positions within ministries and national committees in the business and investment sectors. Al Attiyah has a degree in computer science from Qatar University, as well as a master’s certificate in project management from George Washington University. She also studied at the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University.

Sheikha Hanadi bint Nasser Al Thani, Founder and Chairperson of asset management company Amwal.

Before establishing the Qatar Ladies Investment Company –  now known as Amwal –  in 2008, Sheikha Hanadi bint Nasser Al Thani was a lecturing assistant in the Economics Department of Qatar University.

She is currently considered as one of the most successful businesswomen in Qatar. She is also CEO of Al Waab City Real Estate development project, and deputy CEO of Nasser Bin Khaled Al Thani & Sons Group.
