Qatari national Khalid Al-Jaber has become the first Arab to complete the Silk Route on a motorbike.

Khalid Al-Jaber, an adventure biker from Qatar set out on an epic journey on his bike, across continents on route dating back thousands of years.

The Silk Route as it’s known, is an ancient road network that was used for trade for centuries. Dating back to the Han dynasty, sometime Mediterranean Sea, North Africa and Europe, connecting the three continents – Asia, Africa and Europe.

Starting from Ace Cafe in London, Al-Jaber travelled 21,000 kilometers through 19 countries – England, France, Germany, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Austria, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and China – to finally finish his journey at the Ace Cafe in Chinese capital, Beijing.

On Saturday, Al-Jaber announced his completion of his voyage on Twitter.

“With thanks to God, I crossed the Silk Route (21 thousand km and 19 countries) and have become the first Arab to cross the original Silk Route,” he said, while dedicating his achievement to “His Highness The Emir.”

At the age of 39, Khalid Al-Jaber has been biking since 2010. What started out as pastime hobby, turned into a passion that has taken him across the world.
