Where Does Chocolate Milk Come From?

Millions of Americans believe that chocolate milk comes from brown cows

A recent study has revealed that millions of Americans believe that chocolate milk comes from brown cows.

Chocolate milk is delicious, but you have to know that it is regular milk with added flavors. While many of you might laugh that statement off since you already knew it, a recent study by the Innovation Center of US Dairy has shown that a large population of people do not know this.

As it seems, a whopping 7% of Americans believe that it comes from brown cows. Who can debate that logic? Brown milk comes from brown cows, right?

Well, to make it fair, the top frequently asked question on the Innovation Center for US Dairy’s website is: “Does chocolate milk come from brown cows?”

This lead to the website having to clear things up and letting visitors know that “actually, chocolate milk – or any flavored milk for that matter – is white cow’s milk with added flavoring and sweeteners”.

The survey polled 1,000 Americans, all over the age of 18, and returned astonishing results. While 48% answered that they did not know where chocolate milk comes from, 7% answered that they believe it came from milking brown cows – on a national scale that makes roughly 6.4 million people.

The survey was part of a dairy awareness campaign called “Undeniably Dairy“, which promotes healthy dairy products and farms across the United States.
