Trump In Saudi Arabia To Address Islamic Leaders

In a historic visit, US President Donald Trump is in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to address Islamic world leaders.

In his first diplomatic trip to a foreign nation, the US president Donald Trump arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Saturday where he was welcomed by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

While visiting the Kingdom, Trump will not only meet with Saudi royals and officials, but will also be addressing leaders from the Gulf, Arab and Islamic world. Therefore, the visit is not only marking closer ties between the US and Saudi Arabia, but a bridging of the gaps between the whole Middle East and the West.

During the day of his visit, the US President and King Salman signed off on a number of agreements, including the largest arms deal in US history among others, worth up to $380 billion all together.

After an agreements signing ceremony, Trump described his arrival as a “tremendous day” and thanked the Kingdom for “hundreds of billions of dollars of investments into the United States and jobs, jobs, jobs”.

“So I would like to thank all of the people of Saudi Arabia,” he said.

On his second day, the US President is expected to address Arab leaders at the Arab Islamic American Summit, but has so far decided to meet the leaders in private before the summit itself.

One of the earliest meetings were between the US President and the Ruler of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Together, they expressed the willingness to expand the two nation’s friendly relationship and join hands into boosting security, defense and economic ties.

During his eight-day trip, president Trump’s will also visit the Israeli authorities, the Palestinian territories, Brussels, Belgium, the Vatican, and Italy’s Sicily.

Accompanying him are first lady Melania, as well as his daughter Ivanka who is accompanying her husband, Trump’s senior adviser Jared Kushner.
