Making Your Own Soy Milk

While soy milk has become a popular replacement for dairy milk, few people know what it really is and how to make it.

In fact, it is very simple to make yummy soy milk at home, we’ll teach you how.

Soy milk as we know it originates from East Asian cuisine and have made its way to become a huge part of many people’s diets all over the world. The reason it has been so popular, is that not only does it taste good, but it can replace cow milk in many foods. This makes it perfect for vegans and people who are lactose intolerant.

To brew yourself a delicious batch of soy milk, you first need to know that it is basically dried soybeans that have soaked and ground in water.

First of all, you’d need a handful of soybeans of course. About a full cup would do great.

Let them soak in 2 or 3 cups of water overnight or for about 6 hours. When you feel you’re done, discard the water and rinse the soybeans. While rinsing them, try to get as much of the skin off as you can.

Throw your soybeans into a blender along with 4 cups of water and give it a good, long, mix. Keep blending until you get a smooth texture.

Once ready, empty your soy-mix into a cheesecloth (or a strainer) and squeeze out all the juices into a container. If you’re using a cheesecloth, keep twisting and make it really tight to get as much out of it as possible.

Once you feel all your soy-liquid has been squeezed out, put them into the fridge or have it right away.

Bon appetit!
