As it seems, Warner Bros are preparing for a reboot of the Wachowskis’ sci-fi mindbender, The Matrix. The first three movies made huge success in the late 90s and early 2000s, grossing over $1.6 billion.
The Hollywood Reporter says that the studio is looking at Zak Pen, who worked on X-Men 2 and Avengers, to start writing, and on Michael B. Jordan, who was in Creed, to star.
The Matrix trilogy tells the story of Neo, a regular man who believes that he is living in the real world, but discovers that life,society and culture are all a lie constructed by the matrix, a form of digital manipulation keeping humans dormant for harvesting.

While the all the details are still not there, it is most likely that Warner Bros are looking to expand The Matrix universe, similar to what Disney is doing with Star Wars, and will not be doing remakes.
The Wachowskis’ released another hit earlier last year. They teamed up with Netflix to create the hit show Sense8, which will be returning for a second season this May.
