What’s Going On At MWC 2017

Mobile World Congress 2017 (MWC) - Facebook

The Mobile World Congress 2017 (MWC) just kicked-off in Barcelona, and here are what people are most excited about.

The GSMA MWC is the mobile industry’s largest exhibition and conference in the world, and is held annual in Barcelona, Spain. Attracting over one hundred thousand people a year, mobile manufacturers and operators from around the world seize the occasion to announce and launch their newest technologies.

MWC 2017 is currently underway at the GSMA Mobile World Capital (Barcelona), and will continue until March 2. Here are some highlight to anticipate:

Nokia (HMD Global)

The biggest comeback of the year goes to Nokia. Not only are they coming back with new Android powered handhelds, but they also announced the return of their iconic Nokia 3310.

They have announced that they will be releasing the new Nokia 5, equipped with a 5.2-inch 720p touchscreen, 2GB of RAM, and a 12 MP main camera, and like the Nokia 6, is powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC. The exhibition might also witness the revealing of the Nokia 3.

Samsung

Despite a lot of talk about about Samsung’s new Galaxy S8 and S8+, a MWC release seems unlikely. They will probably be unveiling them in a separate event in March. However, they might be showing off their new Galaxy Tab S3 along with their signature S Pen

LG

The phone of the year award will most likley go to LG’s G6 smartphone. There has been several leaks and rumors around the new phone, and if all we hear about is true, it will be one of the most powerful phones released this year.

It is said to operate through a 5.7-inch 2,880×1,440 touchscreen and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset, and includes two 13MP back cameras, one with a wide-angle lense, the other with a 125-degree field of view.

They might also be flaunting their new pair of Android Wear smartwatches, the LG Watch Style and LG Watch Sport.

BlackBerry (TCL)

Believe it or not, BlackBerry is also coming back. TCL has finally done right by the BlackBerry and is bringing it back as a phone by its own. The new phone known as Mercury comes with a full QWERTY keyboard and a 4.5 inch touchscreen. Awesome!
