QITCOM 2017 Agenda Has Been Announced

QITCOM 2017, the country’s biggest tech conference is in the making, and will be bigger than ever this year.

QITCOM 2017 organizers announced that the event will be taking place between March 6 and 8 this year, at the Qatar National Convention Center, through a press conference yesterday.

Managed by the Ministry of Transport and Communication, QITCOM is Qatar’s biggest technology conference and exhibition, hosted under the theme “Qatar – Toward a Smart Future. It aims at integrating smart technology into different industries in the country to maximize proficiency and sustainability as the country is moving closer to its National Vision 2030.

It acts as a hub to facilitates discussion between policy makers and technology providers, and gives them a chance to address modern problems and find smart solutions.

The press conference shed light on some of the event’s highlights and activities, like the newly added Smart Qatar Zone, which will demonstrate the application of smart solutions and services on five key economic sectors crucial to achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030. They are transportation, environment, health, sports and logistics.

The conference will also include start-up matchmaking to introduce innovators to investors and start a dialogue between the two, as well as CodeCamp, a coding competition held for the first time.

There will also be a Hackathon, where young programmers are given the task to create a software solutions to real-world problems.

There will be over 20 speakers, including the CEO of Qatar Mobility Innovations CenterDr. Adnan Abu-Dayya, CEO of Msheireb Properties Eng. Abdulla Al-Mehshadi, Internet of Things & City Digitization Director Bas Boorsma, as well as CTO of Huawei Middle East Region Malik Faisal, along with over 80 exhibitors.

QITCOM 2017 will conclude with a gala dinner, where the organizers will show appreciation to their sponsors, partners and exhibitors, and announce the winners of the ICT Business Award, QITCOM Award, Innovation Award, CodeCamp and Qatar Digital Government Award.
