There’s A Date For KidZania Qatar

KidZania, the award-winning edutainment concept, unveils of plans to launch in Qatar by 2018.

One of the world’s biggest family entertainment centers is finally arriving in Doha after a long wait. Rumored to open back in 2015, KidZania have confirmed that they will open their first Qatar branch in the heart of Aspire Zone, sometime during the first quarter of 2018.

The edutainment center will provide children with both learn and play, where children get to try on many types of professions first-hand, including being a doctor, engineer, firefighter and pilot. The facility will offer as many as 60 different pretend jobs for the kids to try out, for which they will earn money tokens in return, which they can then exchange for meals and gifts.

The concept was created to empower children and give them a glimpse of the jobs they might have in the future, or even help them find a certain passion.

Aimed at children between the ages of 4 to 14, they are expecting around 300,000 visitors to the Doha branch a year. The specialized staff of 250 will be trained to accommodate up to 1,000 kids at the same time.

The KidZania brand was created and developed by Xavier Lopez, a Mexican entrepreneur and the current KidZania CEO. The first branch opened in September 1999 at the Santa Fe Shopping Mall in Mexico City, and was then named La Ciudad de los Niños, or “The City of the Children”.

Since its very first opening, KidZania has today received more than 31 million visitors, making it of the world’s most popular edutainment brand.
