Global Champions Tour Finale Return To Doha

The Longines Global Champions Tour finale will once again take place in Qatar

The Longines Global Champions Tour finale will once again take place in Qatar.

Organizers of the Longines Global Champions Tour and the Global Champions League have announced that both finales will once more be hosted at Qatar’s prestigious state-of-the-art Al Shaqab Equestrian Center.

The grand event will take place from November 9 to 11, and is regarded as the world’s most prestigious equestrian competition.

The world’s best showjumpers and elite equestrians will meet in Qatar to face-off for the 2017 title at the renowned venue that was founded by the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. But before the Qatar finale, the contenders will compete both as individuals and teams in 15 cities, 12 countries, over eight months across Asia, The Americas and Europe.

It was the former Emir, Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who founded Al Shaqab Equestrian Center to preserve the Arab equestrian heritage, which he was known to have a passion for. It has since grown into a high-quality cutting-edge venue that deserves no less than to serve the most prestigious international events.

The Global Champions Tour is an annual show jumping tournament that is made up of 14 rounds, hosted across different venues around the world. Every year, it brings together the world’s top 30 contenders in the FEI Jumping World Rankings.

The finales were last hosted in Doha last November, in 2016, where prize pot was $19 million.

Germany’s capital, Berlin, will be also be a host city, for the first time, on July 28-30, with London – which first hosted the GCT in 2013 – returning to host a week later at the Royal Chelsea Hospital.
