Introducing Google Home

Google Home

Just two months old, Google Home is already competing with the older Amazon Echo. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

What makes the new smart speaker, developed by Google as part of their “Made By Google” product line, better is its more diverse knowledge of random trivia and facts, as well as its ability to converse with its users more proficiently.

When it comes to contextual conversations, Google Home can keep up. You can ask it for restaurants near you, and then follow up on the question with something like “what about coffee shops”, and it will know that it is a followup question and answer about coffee shops near you, so you don’t have to ask a whole new question every time you address it.

This is primarily why that even though it is newer than the Echo, it has Amazon trying to catch up with it.

It does however share a lot of features with its predecessors, like the user’s ability to stream through Google Play Music, YouTube Music, Spotify, TuneIn, Pandora, and iHeartRadio.

Google also partnered up with Nest, SmartThings, Philips Hue, and IFTTT to make their smart home devices controllable with the Google Home assistant.

And while the Echo comes in standard black, Google’s device has a removable lower part that can be changed to the color that fits the decor and color patterns of the room you choose to put it in.

This product is however only available in the US at the moment and it is unclear when and if they will start shipping world wide, but let’s home they do soon so we can all have our own little personal assistant at home.
