E-Gate Is Now Live & Free At Hamad International

The E-gate at Hamad International Airport

E-gate at Hamad International Airport is now open to serve Qatar expats expats for free and make their entrance to the country easier.

Officials at Qatar’s national Hamad International Airport have announced that their E-gate is open for all expats over the age of 18,after months of anticipation.

This means that anyone flying in or out of the country through its official international hub, can now avoid long queues and the time consuming immigration documentation process. Instead, they can enjoy the new automated service and get their documentation done alone, without the need to visit the desk of an immigration officer.

All they have to do is have their Qatari ID and passport ready while at the E-gate line at Hamad International.

However, the service is not available for children under the age of 18.

The service was actually available as of last October, when dozens of people reported using it. However, most of them had to go down to the immigration department to with their IDs and passport and file out an application, and pay a fine of QAR 200.

The E-gate is part of Hamad International’s “smart passenger project” that aims to simplify passengers’ visits to the airport.

Since April, the airport has also been testing other automated services, like the automated baggage drop and self-printing luggage tags.

All these services are to help the airport cope with the large number of travelers coming through on daily basis, and make their entrance/exit of the country as quick and smooth as possible.
