Sherlock Season 4 Is The Darkest One Yet

Sherlock Season 4 (BBC)

A second trailer for BBC’s Sherlock has revealed an even darker season four of the popular British crime drama.

The creators of the Sherlock series have released another trailer, that gives us a general feel of what the upcoming season might be like. From its very first seconds, it shows that the fourth season of the series got a little darker than the previous ones. It even ends with the phrase “it is not a game anymore”.

The new trailer also shows scenes that include Toby Jones, a new addition to the series cast. He is playing the Culverton Smith, yet another super villain that takes on Holmes.

While Holmes is known to always be a step ahead of his adversaries, this time around it seems like he is in a very delicate situation. You might have seen him scratching his head before, but the trailers clearly show that he, and everyone he loves, are in trouble.

One of most intriguing part of the short trailer is when Holmes utter the words “I love you”, knowing that he almost never shows emotions or affection.

We can expect Sherlock to be pushed to his limits, and possibly even break, to save the ones he cares about.

Starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes and Martin Freeman as Doctor John Watson, the series will return to BBC1 on New Year’s Day at 9 in the morning.

The three previous seasons have had great success and turned have turned Holmes into a modern cult favorite. The first two have a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and the third season has a 97% approval rating.

A fifth season was already confirmed in January 2014, with Cumberbatch also confirming that he has signed for a fifth round.
