Netflix brought back the Gilmore Girls starring original cast, Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel.
In the year 2000, the world fell in love with mother and daughter Lorelai and Lorelai (Rory) Gilmore, who shared with us their daily lives in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Today, after nearly ten years since the show finale in 2007, Netflix has brought the Gilmore Girls back to update us on what has been going on in their lives since.
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life takes place a few years after where the original show left us. Rory Gilmore is a freelance journalist who lives on a plane. Her lifestyle comes with instability, and she has given up her apartment and now lives with friends around the world, London, New York and of course, Stars Hollow.
In London, Rory stays with Logan Huntzberger, and the two have a complex no-strings-attached relationship, despite Rory having a boyfriend, Paul, and Logan having a fiance. When Rory is fired and Logan’s fiance moves in with him, Rory struggles to adapt to her new reality, until she meets Jess Mariano, who encourages her to write her own book about her life with her mother.
Back in Stars Hollow, Lorelai is tricked by her mother Emily Gilmore into therapy sessions to help her through her grievance over her dead husband, Lorelai’s father and Rory’s grandfather. Alongside losing her father, Lorelai is having problems with her relationship with Luke. The two have been dating for over ten years but have not yet discussed marriage and children.
The story will take through the experience of two women coming-of-age from two very different generations. While young Rory is trying to establish herself as an adult woman, Lorelai is trying to figure out the rest of her life.
