The Web Summit just kicked off for its 7th installment in Lisbon, Portugal.

Starting off as a smaller technology conference in Dublin in 2009, the Web Summit has grown to much more. Since almost everything is now online and technologized, it has grown to become businesses hub with exhibitors and speakers from all professional backgrounds. Everyone, from Fortune 500 companies to fresh startups, gather annually at the summit to network, discover the latest innovations, and watch some of the world’s most successful and innovative executives discuss what is new in the world.

This year the Web Summit will be hosted in Lisbon, Portugal, from November 7 until the the 10th, with a phenomenal lineup of speakers. Over a record of 53,000 attendees will have the privilege to watch remarkable speeches and presentations from 663 international speakers. They range from likes of Sean Rad, Tinder Co-Founder and CEO, and Mike Schroepfer, CTO at Facebook, to Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Renault-Nissan Alliance and Roberto Azevêdo, the Director-General of the World Trade Organization.

This year’s version will also be hosting 21 different individual conferences simultaneously. They are: AutoTech, Binate, ContentMakers, Creatiff, Enterprise X, FullSTK, FutureSocieties, HealthConf, Marketing X, PandaConf, Modum, MoneyConf, MusicNotes, Night Summit, Pub Summit, SaaS Monster, Talk Robot, The Forum, SportsTrade, Startup University, Surf Summit, and the Sunset Summit.

The summit has also served as the birthplace for some of the world’s biggest companies right now. The California-based transportation service, Uber, was unknown until the company’s founder met two investors who put up 50 million euros into his company at on of the summit nights in Dublin.

Participants have flown in from 166 countries, and tension is on. While the world is anticipating what new tech gadget will be revealed, what new technological advancements have been made, and how business will look like in the future, one thing is for sure. The conference is all about the people who run the world today, and those who are going to shape the world of tomorrow.
