The Color Run Returns To Qatar

The Color Run

Get your running shoes ready, for the Color Run will be returning to Qatar.

Once more, the residents of Qatar are invited to run or jog, and even play down the course of “the happiest 5K on the planet”, the Color Run. The popular international event has visited Qatar before, and will be doing so again on January 28, early next year.

When it comes to Qatar, thousands flocked in to run during the earlier two versions of the run, both of which were held at Qatar National Convention Center. However, the organizers are promising “an enhanced experience” for this year’s round.

This year they are celebrating their Tropicolor World Tour to mark their 5th anniversary. People as young as four years old can come down and run, and be splashed with colors celebrating each kilometer they pass.

The event is scheduled at the same time as the Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar (WCM-Q), which runs the health campaign Sahtak Awalan: Your Health First, so both will be happening at the same time, even though the run will not be running directly for a cause.

The Color Run, which is also known as “the Happiest 5K on the Planet”, was founded by Travis Snyder in March 2011, and took place for the very first time in city of Phoenix in Arizona, USA, with 6,000 participants. The year that followed, the Color Run was held in over 50 North American cities, with a total of more than half a million runners, and the year after in 130 cities in the US, South America, Europe, Africa and Australia.

Since then the happiest 5K on the planet has taken place in cities like Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore, Seoul, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, Barcelona, Madrid, Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Dublin, Manchester, Toronto, Vancouver,Vietnam, and in the Middle East in Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon and Egypt

The registration can done through their website and will cost only QAR 140, while children aged 4 and younger can run for free.
