Upgraded Qatar’s Farmers’ Markets Will Return This Week

Get ready, for Qatar’s farmers’ markets will reopen later on this week, bringing you the freshest products!

Qatar’s farmers’ markets are returning to business as of this Thursday, October 20, for their earliest season ever. The three already existing markets will return to Al Wakrah, Al Mazrouah yard and Al Dhakira yard in Al Khor, and will be bringing shoppers fresh fruits, vegetables, fish and meats from around 80 farms across Qatar, as well as local honey, poultry, livestock, flowers and plants.

The markets have undergone some changes however, and will be slightly better than last year’s. Fruits and vegetables will now be cooled by air conditioning and the fish section at Al Dhakira as well. This will help keep the products fresh and healthy.

There will also be two new additional farmers’ markets opening up in the country, one in the northern city of Al Ruwais, and the other in Muaither near Villagio Mall. They are however still being developed and their opening dates will be announced shortly.

Once finished, they will be selling produce from over 40 additional Qatari farms, raising the allover number of farms supplying Qatar’s farmers’ markets to 120. Last year there were 77 local farms sending their produce to the markets.

Their opening hours will be from 7 am until 5 pm during Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. If you are planning to visit on a Friday, you should keep in mind that all markets would be closed for prayers and would resume afterwards.
